Adventures in May

Travelling markets

May was full of adventures. I participated in the Love The Lesch festival in my hometown, Australind. I had the excellent stall neighbours Penguin Empress Studios and Chickenpants. I even grabbed photos with some of the mascots!

Across the Wheatbelt to the Great Southern

Then we took a family trip down to Albany at the end of May. We managed to hit up all these towns:

  • Narrogin, for a tasty curry at The New Cornwall Hotel

  • Highbury, to stay at my grandparents farm, Noalimba

  • Katanning, for the excellent playground. As a bonus, the Katanning Miniature Railway was open and I got to ride the steam train (powered with Collie coal) and the diesel!

  • Mt Barker for a delicious camembert, caramelised onion & steak pie from the Mt Barker Bakery! (or brie, I can’t tell those cheeses apart). I remembered this pie from 3 years ago and it was still as incredible.

Albany had absolutely gorgeous weather for us. Sunshine, blue skies and warm days meant we had a great time splashing in the water, even if the water itself was a bit chilly! Middleton Beach, the Salmon Holes and Emu Point were all fantastic.

Animal and flower friends

I also found some animal and flower friends- a plethora of tiny crabs all the colour of the sand, a quenda (bandicoot), and 2 flowers I don’t know.

Tiny art

I've got mini paintings I've been working on! These will start appearing on the website over the next week or so. So far there's landscapes, birds and flowers, and they're all original, hand painted watercolours. The current size is a 3” square, a tiny piece of art.

Thanks for reading, and see you in the studio!
