March equinox and Easter treats

Happy Autumn Equinox! The heat of Bunuru (second summer) was still with us into March last week, and now it's warm and humid thanks to an autumn thunderstorm and Cyclone Narelle. I’m trying to catch up after managing a household full of the first illnesses of the school year, but I’m also looking forward to our weekend of rain.

I’ve popped a few jars outside to collect rainwater for paintings, and I want to spend a little time brainstorming a mini collection for it that is weather related.

Easter treats

Every order placed before Easter gets an Easter bookmark! I'll be popping one of 2 designs into every order - and if you purchase a mug (which is sent straight from the manufacturer), I'll mail it separately!

I also have an ongoing sale on my smaller linen tea towels, which are perfect for wrapping freshly baked goods for Easter brunch and autumn picnics.

Volunteering

I volunteered with my local Town Team to create a massively fun Manning Laneway Festival for my local community. We had the whole community out playing until past their bedtimes! I've found volunteering for this event to be so rewarding each year, and this year I opted to just be a pair of hands rather than running an art activity (plus a lot of planning work!). I did most of the social media posting, helped decide what activities the community would enjoy, and turned up on the day to put up signage, pop liners in the bins, put out the tables and scurried around telling everyone what a good job they were doing. It’s delightful to be part of a team that brings together a big event like this, and I highly encourage the experience!

Art things

I’ve completed my 3 paintings for Incognito Art Show, so those are going in the post next week (and no, I can’t give you even a peek!) but it’s given me some time to practice and get ready for creating new paintings for the shop in April. These are the paintings from last year, all of which sold. From left to right, they are:

  • Butterfly on heart-leafed flame pea

  • Splendid blue fairy wren amongst the showy honey myrtle

  • Snack time - splendid blue fairy wren with a tasty dragonfly snack!

  • Me being very proud of my paintings!

(Yes, I showed these off last month, but I’m very proud of them!)

I loved the fluffy round splendid blue fairy wren I ended up painting a similar one for myself. I am hoping this year’s find wonderful homes as well. The exhibition doesn’t start for a couple of months and all the paintings are available online as well, so sign up to their mailing list for updates! All the proceeds go to charity.

If you’d like to see an art exhibition closer to home, the Small Wonders exhibition at Ellenbrook Arts is still running until 19 April.

I hope you stay safe and have a wonderful Easter!
